In another major price cut, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the ex-depot price of petrol from N828 to N699 per litre, marking a significant N129 drop and a 15.58% reduction. Real-time figures released by Petroleumprice.ng on Friday confirmed the new pricing structure, which took effect on December 11, 2025.

A refinery official, who spoke with PUNCH Online off the record, verified the development, stating simply:

“The refinery has reduced petrol gantry price to N699 per litre.”

This latest adjustment becomes the 20th petrol price review announced by the refinery in 2025, reflecting an ongoing effort to stabilise local fuel costs amid global market shifts.

Just five days earlier, the refinery’s Chairman, Aliko Dangote, reaffirmed his commitment to keeping fuel prices “reasonable and competitive.” Speaking after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu on December 6, Dangote noted that Nigerians should expect continuous price reductions as the refinery boosts production capacity and competes more effectively with imported petroleum products.

With the refinery now taking a more active role in domestic supply, industry watchers say this downward trend could signal greater price stability for consumers and a gradual decline in reliance on imported fuel.
