Dangote sells Dangote Noodles

Dangote Flour Mill on Tuesday made an announcement that it has sold Dangote Noodles to Dufil Prima Foods; makers of Indomie. Dangote Flour Mill no longer sees the Indomie as strategic again.

According to the Group Managing director, Thabo Mabo, Dangote Flour Mill does not see the Indomie Business as strategic enough and in a bid to divest into pasta production and improve in the areas of quality, distribution and marketing

In a bid to ensure the smooth transition of trade, Dufil Prima foods will be allowed to use some of Dangote Flour Mills facilities on a temporary basis. Under the agreement, Dufil Prima foods will continue to sell noodles under the brand name of “Dangote Indomie” for the next two years before changing the brand name.

There is provision for the retention of the majority of the former staffs of Dangote Noodles who will automatically become staffs of Dufil Prima Foods. Although the redundant staffs will not be retained, they will be adequately compensated.

Dangote Noodles was bought from Tiger Brands. The company has 3 plants in Lagos, Kano and Cross River states with the capacity of producing 21million cartons of noodles yearly in each.
