#ENDSARS: THE INTRIGUING BENIN PRISON BREAK STORY
On Sunday the Edo state government claimed a Benin prison was broken into and inmates were subsequently released, but a lot of Nigerians have refuted this claim coming forward with facts and figures to discredit the claims.
The jailbreak in Benin have been scrutinizing digested by Nigerians and some other individuals who have spent some time behind the bars of Nigerian correctional centres, have all refuted the claim of the state governor, categorically saying it's fairly impossible for unarmed protesters to break a prison and release the prisoners.
Some of the statements are; As someone who lived eight days in prison as an inmate during an undercover investigation, I can tell you that it is NOT possible for unarmed protesters or hoodlums to break into a prison in Edo State or elsewhere and set inmates free. No largescale jailbreak can succeed without: (i) the active connivance of prison insiders, (ii) the tacit support of prison security or (iii) the disguised involvement of prison authorities. There's also another intriguing aspect to the Benin Jailbreak.Those prisoners without uniforms pictured on the wall are likely awaiting Trial mates at the moment are secluded in their cells; they dont roam inside like prisoners serving jail terms. How do they all get their clothings, no one not even anyone of the supposed released prisoners isn't wearing a prison uniforms, they all look better than any Nigerians in prisoners will ever looked, even the ones detained for a couple of days would have changed and look more haggard and dirty and rough.
But in spite of all these allegations and disbelief by the court of the #ENDSARS protesters, the state government further place a 24hr curfew on the state and subsequently ban all protests and public gathering till further notice. Although, protesters continue there peaceful demonstration as if the mandate excludes them. With these recent development, the world couldn't understand the silence of the president and his stance on the issue couldn't be ascertained. If only the president can do the right thing, all this could've been avoided.
