FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WARN AGAINST CHRISTMAS AND FESTIVE GATHERING

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has urged Nigerians to be weary of festivities such as Christmas carols as the year winds down. The announcement was made in respect of the insecurity and the corona virus episode whose second wave seems to be deadlier than even the first. It's a known facts that the pandemic is still ravaging the health system of states and cases of infections still rises by the day.

Boss Mustapha also warns Nigerian in diaspora who might be planing of coming home for the festive period to reconsider not traveling and stay put so to avoid been stranded in case the government decided to take a decision on foreign or international travelers to minimize the influx of people who might be instrumental in spreading the deadly corona virus.

This call was the theme of the speeches of the Chairman of the PTF, Boss Mustapha; the national coordinator, Sani Aliyu; the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire; and the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Chikwe Ihekweazu, at the weekly briefing of the task force in Abuja on Monday. Urging that Nigerians must not forget the world is still in battle with the corona virus, It must also put into cognizance the effects of the virus before, during and after the festive period as the vaccine is still a far fetched reality.

Speaking on vaccines, the PTF chairman said while it was a significant achievement, it was however, important for the citizens to continue to comply with the non-pharmaceutical interventions before the vaccines would become available.  Although, there are different break through since the pharmaceutical lines for the vaccines. It's still in the trial stages and it remain imperatives to put into cognizance pre-emptive measures to repel unwarranted spread of the deadly virus.
