HOW NIGERIAN SENATORS RISE TO PROTECT EMBATTLED IKE EKEREMADU
The Nigerian senators are head bent on protecting senator Ike Ekeremadu. Despite his glaring legal battle against the UK government, the senate instead of suspending u, till he completed his legal battle, they are soliciting support for his release.
The Former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu who was arrested in the UK for offenses boardering on organ harvest will remain in prison till October 31st as the case has been adjourned again. Ekweremadu appeared in court on today, Thursday and will remain in Custody as the judge adjourned the case till the end of October for another hearing.
It can be recalled that the Nigerian senator first appeared before the Uxbridge magistrates’ court in London, where the lawmaker denied all the charges against him.
Both Ekweremadu and his wife were denied bail and remanded in custody while the case was adjourned to July 7 and now August 4, 2022. However, on July 2nd, his wife, Beatrice was granted bail under strict conditions.
Ike Ekweremadu put in a request for a new counsel on Wednesday, the Nigerian senator was initially represented by Adamu Bulkachuwa,
The most devastating part of the whole scenario was that despite been arrested and facing legal tussles in the UK, the senator continually kept his post as a senate in the Nigerian house.
Even the senate committee chairman on foreign affairs, was in court to show support for Ekweremadu. But only 20 people were allowed into the court premises to witness proceedings and any and all recording devices were barred.
These is the reality of how the high class in the country protect themselves, but punishes common man for menial offenses, should Nigeria aim to get better, the high class is the starting point for its betterment.
