Lagos state has make moves to prosecute Baba ijesha, the state commissioner for justice, said the state’s directorate of public prosecutions has recommended five charges against Baba Ijesha “after due consideration of the facts in the case file.”

According to Moyosore Onigbanjo, the state will file charges of sexual assault by penetration (which is punishable by life imprisonment); indecent treatment of a child (punishable by 7 years imprisonment); and defilement of a child (which is also punishable by life imprisonment), among others against the movie star.

“It would be recalled that the Nigeria Police Force arrested Mr. Olanrewaju James (aka Baba Ijesha) on account of various sexual abuse allegations. On the 30th of April, 2021, the Police forwarded the case file of COP v Olanrewaju James to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advise,” the statement read.

The DOP in charge of the case had earlier hinted that the police intend to release the culprit on bail on Friday, but popular outcry and the subsequent release of the CCTV footage which shows how the movie star harassed the minor in her moms home furthe convinced the law enforment agents that he (Baba Ijesha) might be guilty of the crime.
