Novak Djokovic will be allowed to participate in this year French open according to the French sport minister.

Although, the minister announced in January that all athletes would need to be vaccinated in order to compete on French soil,

The announcement as at then threw Djokovic's defence of his Roland Garros title into severe doubt.

But, with the latest wave of the  pandemic now subsiding, Prime Minister Jean Castex revealed the current restrictions will end on March 14 on french soil.

Djokovic, the only player in the men's top 100 not be vaccinated against Covid, was unable to defend his Australian Open title earlier this year after a controversial row over his visa which saw him detained in an immigration hotel for 11 days in Melbourne before being sent home.

Having initially been granted an exemption to play despite not being vaccinated, Djokovic saw his visa offer withdrawn over inaccuracies on his covid-19 history and documents.

But the recent development in France on subsiding covid-19 cases will see him partake in the tournament even without being vaccinated.
