OSUN STATE GOVERNOR HIGHLIGHTS COGENT POINTS OF DISCUSSION AT THE JUST CONCLUDED SOUTHERN GOVERNOR MEETING

The state of Osun State governor Gboyega Oyetola has highlighted the major point of discussion at the recently concluded southern governor meeting. In his sown words, he narrated:

At the meeting of the Southern Governors Forum which held in Lagos, today, we deliberated on various issues of national interest including the current security situation of the country, constitutional amendment, recently passed Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, electoral act, anti-open grazing law, among others. 

We called for politics of equity and fairness and resolved that the next President of Nigeria must emerge from the Southern part of the country. The Forum equally condemned the removal of electronic transmission of election result from the Electoral Act  and also rejected the confirmation of exclusive jurisdiction in pre-election matters on the Federal High Court.

On the security situation of the country, we commended security agencies in the country for their relentless efforts in protecting lives and property of Nigerians, and also restated the need for State Police. The Forum frowned at selective criminal administration of justice and resolved that arrests should be made within the ambit of the law and fundamental human rights.
