Ukrainian forces battled Russian troops on the streets of Kharkiv as Russian forces broke into the second-largest city of the country early this morning.

According to Ukrainian officials. Earlier, explosions were heard in Kyiv after people in the capital city were warned to take shelter immediately due to an expected Russian air raid.

CNN reports that more than 200,000 people have fled Ukraine since Russian troops invaded the country, according to the UN.

Ukraine President’s office said Russian forces blew up a gas pipeline in the country’s second-largest city Kharkiv.

The US, Germany, Czech Republic, Netherlands and Portugal separately announced they would send military aid to Ukraine.
