In the UFC 261: There was an emotional moment when Usman Kamaru paid tribute to his dad who’s in the stand, watching him live for the first time. For about 10yrs Muhammed Usman has been in jal and watching his son this time while retaining his title is quite an emotional deal for him Muhammed Usman, was arrested in 2009 on charges of multiple false claims submitted by his ambulance company.

About 11 months after his arrest, around May 2010, he was convicted on 14 federal charges and sentenced to 180mnths in prison with restitution placed at $1.3 million. He has no choice than to serve his jail term and was released in February, 2020, from a Texas prison after serving 10 of the 15yrs of his term.

Wether Mohammed Usman was guilty of the charges he went to prison for is a story for another day, but for today the sheer joy and emotions on that UFC 261 ring after his son defeated Jorge Masvidal with a KO in the second round is a joy to behold, considering the unit as a family who have gone through good and bad times together, those prison visits from his family and lonely times on his prison bed, all the memories that brought him here, the euphoria of what the never dying spirit  they imbibed helped them to achieve.

Indeed, Mohammed Usman is a very proud father on the night, but the journey that took him to that point, would anyone mind to travel in such marathon too.
