VILLARREAL VS ARSENAL POST MATCH REVIEW
Arsenal lost to villarreal in their first leg encounter of the Europa semi final tie, the fans are mad at their manager Mikel Arteta for resorting to a tactics that doesn’t work for the team
Unai Emery had Villarreal playing intense football straight from kick-off. Two goals before Arsenal could settle in. Unai Emery's Villarreal took a big step towards the coach getting revenge over former side Arsenal as they won 2-1 in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday.
Manu Trigueros and Raul Albiol got the goals for the LaLiga Santander side before Nicolas Pepe pulled back through a penalty in the second half. The Gunners' task wasn't helped by Spaniard Dani Ceballos getting sent off with more than 30 minutes to play, though Etienne Capoue was given his marching orders to even things up for the final 10.
"The fact that we conceded really early in the game really affected us. We lost our organisation, we were really stretched and there were big distances between the lines that we could not join together with the ball." Arteta: "After the story of the game we have to take it because we are in the tie, we are alive and, with the circumstances that developed during the game, it put the tie in real danger at some stages."

This is what I've said from seeing the lineup. Like man, how do you try to do shit because guardiola did same yesterday. Arteta play the worst formation yesterday and cost us a match we would have won easily....We're still in the tie, no thanks to Arteta and his ridiculous decisions this evening. Copying his mentor Pep by experimenting with no strikers (in a European SF FFS) and then not replacing Ceballos at HT when a red card looked a case of when, not if. He needs to improve quickly.
On Ceballos; "I haven't seen the [red card] action again. Obviously we talked at half-time that we have to be very careful. There was already a tackle very early and I was going to take him off. By the time that Gabi was ready to come on that action happened and he was out."....Excuses, messed up and he knows it. Far too reactive. Ceballos shouldn't have been taken off at HT because of the yellow, he should have been taken off because he was having an awful game. The fact he was on a yellow and doing all sorts of f**kery was a easy decision made easier.
Arteta messed us up . Ceballos shouldnt have played second half . Should haveade changes earlier . But no. This has to stop we cant keep blowing chances. This was clearly the managers fault. We're still in the tie, no thanks to Arteta and his ridiculous decisions this evening.
