Rochas Okorocha, the Senator representing Imo West, has cautioned the Southeast against their agitations for Nigeria’s breakout. Okorocha warned that Igbos would be the worst hit if Nigeria breaks up. The former Imo State Governor spoke in Abuja while addressing some women groups yesterday. Okorocha stressed that the Southeast should push towards fixing the country and not its disintegration.

It was also eported that the five governors in the region, on Wednesday disowned the secessionist group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), stating that the group does not speak for the Igbos.

We condemn in totality, the activities of violent secessionist groups in the South East and elsewhere. “We firmly proclaim that we do not support them, they do not speak for the South East. “The impression that South-East leaders are silent over some of our youths’ agitations for secession is not correct.

The reason behind the disclaimer of the IPOB is largely based on security. The region is tethering and can boil at anything, hence  the political leaders in the state are billed to speak in unity in denial of the secessionist gospel.
