An overpass carrying a subway train collapsed in Mexico City late Monday, killing at least 23 people, including children, according to local government officials. The collapse happened due to an overload on the overpass.

Prevalent mindset will perceive that it is an engineering mistake. But such disasters occur due to low quality raw materials used in construction for cost cutting and corruption and its deadly for the populace who are the main user/consumer of the projects which have been awarded to be carried out with inferior materials

Its also a lesson for the developing countries who are always in the habits of awarding contracts that are less quality which are detrimental to public users. Especially in counties like Nigeria where even expired bridges, carriers and link roads are been managed on a regular basis. The government should borrow a leaf from this huge devastation which includes the destructions of lives and prosperities.
