HOW GUNMEN ATTACKED UMUTU POLICE DIVISION IN DELTA

The tension on Friday in Umutu community was high as gunmen attacked and killed three policemen in a process, in an attempt to burn down the police station in the community.

It was gathered that the incident occurred around 2:00am in the middle of the night, the Umutu Police Divisional Headquarters in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State experiences an attack that seems to be above the muscle and power of the force in the area.

Although the attempt to set the station ablaze was furtile, but two police officers were killed in the process. A constables and one Assistant Superintendent laid down their life in line of duty.

Some eye witness claimed the gun men carter away some arms and ammunition's, but some refutted the claim, stating that the police officers repelling the attack didn't allow that to happen. 

The Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, who confirmed the attack, said the armed men in their numbers stormed Umutu police station, shot indiscriminately at the station with the sole aim of making sure the station is destroyed, looted and razed to the ground.

But the officers on duty even though some laid down their lives, did their best to defend the existence of the police station.
