"Production Warrant Issued for Naira Marley in Internet Fraud Case
Nigerian singer Naira Marley, whose real name is Azeez Fashola, faced legal proceedings as Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, issued a production warrant against him on October 5, 2023.
He is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 11 charges related to conspiracy and credit card fraud.
During the court session, Naira Marley's defense counsel, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, explained the singer's absence, citing his detention by the Police for interrogation regarding the murder of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad. Ojo requested an adjournment, which was granted.
In response, the prosecution counsel, Bilkisu Buhari, urged the court to issue a production warrant to ensure Naira Marley's presence in court for the next hearing. Justice Oweibo accepted the prosecution's request, issuing the warrant and adjourning the trial to October 30, 2023.
