On Sunday, Tunisia’s President Kais Saied suspended parliament and dismissed Prime Minister Hicham Mechichi. The move followed large protests across cities against the government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic,

He decided to take measures to address the people's outcry and stabilize the unrest in the country's capital and other states where the protest is been seriously felt.

These measures are: Dissolving the Gov. of PM Hisham Al-Mashishi, Freezing the work & mandates of the Parliament, Removing the privilege of diplomatic immunity from all Parliament members, The president will take responsibility of executive powers to help a PM appointed by him

After this Announcement, Tunis is rife with still unconfirmed reports of a possible closure of Carthage Airport to prevent Renaissance party leaders and Parliament members from fleeing #Tunisia after the removal of the Impunity they had! There will be another detailed announcement!.

In response to Tunisian President Kais Saied’s decision to freeze parliament and assume executive powers, Parliament Speaker Rached Ghannouchi accused him of launching "a coup against the constitution and the revolution"
